Screenshot of SwiftMap Desktop Edition

The widespread uptake of desktop mapping software in both the public and private sector has created a proliferation of digital map-based information. SwiftMap is designed to give you a cost-effective way to deploy that information across your organisation. SwiftMap is a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use and highly accessible map viewing and printing tool which has proved very popular with users. SwiftMap gives you view only access to maps created and maintained with MapInfo Professional®. It enables users with limited requirements or experience of GIS to access and print map data without the need for in depth training. SwiftMap’s rapid map access to your corporate data gives your customer facing and back office staff the means to deliver a quality service to your clients. You can broaden this service by offering clients access to selected maps whilst maintaining control over the functions available to them.

"Members of the Local Government GIS User Group have been impressed with the response to requests for a low-cost map viewing capability. SwiftMap has considerable potential for MapInfo® users to spread mapping across their organisation at affordable prices and without the need for extensive GIS training "

Fast View Access

SwiftMap provides users across whole departments with direct one-click access to selected maps and associated data and metadata. The comprehensive set of navigation tools provided includes pan, zoom, gazetteer access and map pins.

Sophisticated Query Tools

The query tools provided by SwiftMap enable you to:

  • Find Addresses

A fully integrated gazetteer enables you to find a particular address. Based on Ordnance Survey ADDRESS-POINT™ or BS7666 data formats, the gazetteer lets you search for full or partial addresses using any combination of available address fields.

Once an address is found and selected, the map window centres on it.

  • Locate specific map objects

This allows you to search map data using simple or advanced SQL queries with either free form or menu assisted input. You can save, annotate and recall searches for frequently used search criteria.

  • Access associated information

You can use an information tool to select a point or an area on a map and display a list of map objects found at that point or overlapping the area. By picking an individual object from the list, you can display all text attributes and geographic information associated with it.

  • Integrate multi-media

You can associate images, text documents, video clips and even hyperlinks to the web with individual map objects and SwiftMap will display them when you pick the object on the map.

  • Measure lengths, perimeters and areas

You can see the length, perimeter or area of map objects at a glance simply by selecting them on the map. You can also draw lines and areas on a map and make ad-hoc measurements. The wide choice of units of measurement available includes metres, feet, miles, hectares, acres and square miles and you can convert from one to another instantly.

  • Tailored Prints on Demand

SwiftMap incorporates a map printing facility that offers an unrivalled combination of functionality and simplicity. The features available and the data and text which can be incorporated in your choice of map include:

    • Map annotation
    • Map rotation with linked north arrows
    • Dynamic and static scale bars
    • Map grids
    • Map margin graticules and grid line numbers
    • Images and logos
    • Dynamic text including date, time, scale etc
    • Dynamic inclusion of attribute and geometric property values from a selected object
    • Ability to prompt users for text input
    • Standard OS copyright notices
    • Print preview

You then simply display the required map, choose from a list of pre-defined map page layouts and then click on the print button.

  • Central Control, Rapid Deployment

SwiftMap is designed to ensure that users can generate the maps they need without becoming involved in the complexities of map production. Most people need about an hour to become familiar with the package. The SwiftMap Administrator’s toolkit allows more experienced MapInfo Professional® users to maintain libraries of map definitions and printing layouts which can then be rapidly circulated to less experienced users across departments or the whole organisation.
