Take command of your spatial data assets - catalog, publish and share your data.

MapInfo Manager

MapInfo Manager enables you to build and manage a centralised library for all your spatial data assets. This searchable library acts as the authoritative single source of truth for your spatial data. Your data becomes easy to find, use, understand and share across your organisation.

MapInfo Manager is a server based application that provides the capabilities to build and manage a centralised library for your organisation’s spatial data assets. This includes creating one or more searchable catalogs of spatial data as well as tools to easily populate and maintain these catalogs with useful information (metadata) about your datasets. The result is an authoritative single source of truth for your spatial data.

Intuitive and easy to use

MapInfo Manager has been designed in consultation with GIS Managers and users to be intuitive and easy to use. Building the reference library for your data, sharing data through catalogs and via a Web Map Server are just a few clicks away. The reference library is composed of metadata (literally “data about your data”).

Build your data library easily

MapInfo Manager helps you build an authoritative single source of truth for all your spatial assets. To do this, the software can “harvest” (automatically collect) metadata from files or from DBMS sources. Point the software at a directory structure and it will traverse through the structure to collect information about your spatial data. MapInfo Manager can harvest data from spatial data formats, non-spatial files and from database systems. The databases supported are Oracle, SQL Server and PostGIS. For spatial data, the harvesting process collects spatial information such as the extents of the data. Virtually any type of data and related files, such as documentation, can be harvested into the catalog. Finally, once a set of data has been collected into your library, refreshing the data is a click away.

Time saving templates

When collecting metadata, templates of standardised values can be applied. Templates can be created for any purpose. Some organisations build templates to automatically add information about the “owners” or points of contact regarding data. Sometimes it is helpful to build a template containing information specific to a particular set of tables or files. Templates can also be applied when updating metadata so it is easy to manage changes to the information.

Edit multiple records at once

The detail of each metadata record can easily be viewed and edited. To make managing and updating your metadata easy, another important time saver is that multiple records can be edited at once.

Catalogs make your data easy to find and use

The main purpose of MapInfo Manager is to help you get the most from your data by making it easy for all who need it to find it and use it. To achieve this, MapInfo Manager can create open standard Catalog Services Web (CSW) catalogs. These catalogs allow users to search for and (if permitted) access data. Any number of catalogs can be set up as needed by the organisation. Catalogs might contain an organisation’s entire data holding or different catalogs can be established with different audiences in mind. The catalogs can be used by MapInfo® Pro users or by users of any software that supports the CSW standard.

Fully integrated with MapInfo® Pro

MapInfo® Pro users can search MapInfo Manager catalog’s to find, better understand and access the data they need. Metadata updating and editing from within MapInfo® Pro is also supported. If a new data set is created in MapInfo® Pro it can be added to MapInfo Manager and changes made to data in MapInfo® Pro can be automatically updated in MapInfo Manager.
