MapInfo
v10.0 Migration Training - 4 AGI CPD
Points
The release of MapInfo Professional v10.0 has introduced
fundamental changes to the interface and Layer Control
features of the software. This course has been designed
to instruct existing users of MapInfo in the new features.
Previous version releases of MapInfo Professional have
not really warranted a full day training but it is obvious
from our experience and user feedback that this release
is worthy of spending time getting to grips with it. The
course is aimed specifically at current users who will
be upgrading to version 10.

Open
Source Workshop
With cuts being announced seemingly daily at present,
many organisations are starting to investigate using Open
Source software. But what are the implications of this
and will it actually do what your organisation requires?
This workshop is aimed at anyone who is interested in
using or investigating Open Source or free software for
their organisation or department.
The day will start with a discussion the real meaning
of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), the real meaning
of the licences and the pro's and con's of using FOSS.
The second section will examine in depth what is available
in the world of GIS using FOSS, with particular emphasis
on web based technologies.
The afternoon will take the form of a code workshop, where
delegates can "get their hands dirty" writing
some basic OpenLayers applications. Some knowledge of
JavaScript is useful here but by no means essential.
